The two rooms with plumbing. One crew, in the right order.
Kitchens and bathrooms both live or die on sequence — what gets ordered before demo, what gets waterproofed before tile, what gets roughed in before anything closes up. We run both trades out of the same shop, with our own people, from a 5×8 hall bath in a Waltham two-family to a full kitchen gut in Wellesley. You get a written scope and a finish date before anything gets demolished.

Scope of work
What a 7 Days kitchen or bathroom actually includes
This is the scope sheet we hand you at the estimate — the same list, in the same order, that the crew works from. Nothing on it is a line item we add later. Rows are tagged by which room they apply to; most jobs run a version of both sides.

Layout, measure & ordering
Field measure of the real room. For a kitchen, cabinets, tops and appliances get ordered and confirmed before anything is torn out — demo is scheduled backwards from the delivery date. For a bathroom, tile, vanity and glass get specified at the same stage.
Protection & full tear-out to the studs
Floor and stair protection from the door to the room, a zippered dust wall at the opening, and debris carried out the same day it comes off. Old tile, cabinets, fixtures and subfloor removed; we look at the joists and supply lines while the walls are open and tell you what we find.
Framing & layout changes
Opening a wall, moving a doorway, relocating a drain for a new layout, building an island base or furring a wall for a new run — with the load path checked before anything structural is cut.
Rough plumbing & electrical
Drain and supply relocated, shower valve set to the tile plane, dishwasher and disposal lines run, dedicated appliance circuits, GFCI outlets, vanity and under-cabinet lighting, exhaust/range hood ducted to the outside — never into a joist bay or the attic.
Waterproofing & flood test
Bathroom-specific: sloped mortar bed, bonded waterproofing membrane at the pan, curb and wall, corners banded, and a 24-hour flood test on the pan before a single tile goes down.
Cabinet & vanity installation
Base and wall cabinets, or a vanity, set level to a laser line, shimmed and scribed to a floor and wall that are never square, and screwed into blocking rather than drywall.
Tile, niche & grout
Dry layout first so cuts land where you'd want them, backsplash or shower walls tiled, recessed niche framed and pitched where applicable, then grout and a sealed perimeter in silicone — never grout — at every change of plane.
Countertop template & install
Kitchen-specific: templated on top of the installed cabinets — the only way it fits — then fabricated, delivered and seamed with the sink cut and mounted.
Fixtures, glass & appliances
Toilet on a new flange and wax, faucets and fixtures, shower glass measured on site and installed when the fabricator delivers, appliances hooked up, hardware and lighting set.
Punch list & walk-through
We walk the room with you, write the punch list, finish it, and clean the space before the final invoice.
The sequence
How we sequence a kitchen or a bathroom
Both rooms are a real sequence — nothing in either can be done out of order, which is exactly why a crew that leaves mid-job costs you weeks. The two timelines share a shape; they branch where the trades actually differ.
Shower glass is templated on site and installed as soon as the fabricator delivers, usually the week after the tile is grouted; countertop fabrication runs on a similar lag after template. We tell you both timelines up front rather than at the end.

Estimate on site
Thirty minutes in your kitchen or bathroom, Monday to Saturday between 3 and 5 PM. You get a written, itemized proposal within 48 hours — not a number over the phone.
- 01
Selections and orders
Cabinets, tops, tile, vanity, fixtures and appliances chosen and ordered first. For a kitchen, nothing gets demolished until the cabinet delivery date is real.
- 02
Protection and demo
Dust wall up, room stripped to the studs, debris out the same day. This is also when surprises surface, and when we tell you about them.
- 03
Rough plumbing and electrical
New drain and supply, valve or sink location set, GFCI and lighting, fan or hood ducted outside. Permits pulled with your town and inspections scheduled by us.
- 04
Waterproofing (bath) or cabinets (kitchen)
In a bathroom: mortar bed, membrane, banded corners, flood test — the day that decides whether the ceiling below stays dry for twenty years. In a kitchen: cabinets set and levelled to a laser line.
- 05
Tile or countertop
Bathroom walls, floor and niche tiled and grouted. Kitchen countertops templated on the installed cabinets, fabricated and seamed in.
- 06
Fixtures, trim and walk-through
Vanity or backsplash finish, faucets, toilet, appliances, hardware, lighting. We walk the room with you, write the punch list, finish it, and clean the space before we invoice.
The day that matters
Waterproofing is the whole job.
A shower is a box that holds water for twenty years. Tile does not do that — tile is the finish. What keeps water out of your joists is a sloped mortar bed, a bonded membrane carried up the walls and over the curb, and banded corners at every change of plane.
We flood-test the pan for a full 24 hours before a single tile goes down. If it holds, we tile. If it doesn't, we find out on our time instead of on your ceiling.
It is the least photogenic day of the job and the only one that decides whether you call anybody about this bathroom again.
- Sloped mortar bed
- Pitched to the drain before anything waterproof goes on.
- Bonded membrane
- Pan, curb and walls, with corners banded rather than caulked.
- 24-hour flood test
- Plugged, filled, marked and checked the next day.
- Silicone, not grout
- Every inside corner and change of plane stays flexible so it doesn't crack open in year two.
Why 7 Days
Four things that decide how a kitchen or bathroom job goes.
Our crew, not a subcontractor lottery
The same certified people who demo your bathroom tile it; the same people who frame your kitchen hang the cabinets. You are not waiting on a trade that answers to somebody else's schedule.
Ordered before opened
A kitchen doesn't get demoed against a hope — cabinets and tops are confirmed first, then the calendar gets written. A bathroom doesn't get tiled before the flood test passes.
We start and we finish
Twenty-one years and the promise hasn't changed: no abandoned jobs. We only commit to dates we can hold, then we hold them.
You see it every day
Photos and progress every working day, so the first time you see the tile layout or the cabinet line isn't the day it's permanent.
The work
Kitchens and bathrooms we build.
Walk-in showers, tub-to-shower conversions, primary suites and full kitchen gut jobs — the range we work in across Greater Boston.
Reference builds in the configurations and materials we work in. Photography of 7 Days projects is added here as jobs are completed and released by the homeowner.

on Angi
“I hired 7 Days Remodel & Contracting to replace my deck and repair the front porch. I also needed new kitchen and bathroom flooring and tile on the kitchen counter and upstairs bathroom. Al and his team were extremely professional and multitasked to complete interior and exterior while I was away on military orders. Pleasantly surprised and extremely satisfied with the outcome and highly recommend them — Al communicated consistently throughout the process and completed the work as discussed prior to my return and on budget.”
“Al did a great job on our renovation of our three-unit apartment building. He showed up, his team showed up, and everyone was skilled, delivering a great result.”

“The job was done in a timeframe that was shorter than projected. Their team was very professional and did a great job cleaning up behind themselves.”

Straight answers
What people ask before they book.
How long does a bathroom remodel take?
A standard full bath runs about seven working days on site, plus the shower glass, which is templated after the tile is grouted and installed when the fabricator delivers. Layout changes, custom tile patterns and long-lead vanities push that out — and we put the real number in your written proposal instead of the optimistic one.
How long will I be without a kitchen?
For a straightforward kitchen with no layout change, plan on roughly three to five weeks on site, plus the countertop fabrication gap between template and install. We give you the real calendar in the written proposal.
Can we still use the room while you work?
Not the one we're building. If it's your only full bath or your only kitchen, tell us at the estimate — we sequence the toilet or a temporary setup back in as early as the work allows and we'll tell you honestly which days or nights you'll want a plan B.
Do you pull the permits?
Yes. Plumbing and electrical permits are pulled with your town's building department and we schedule the inspections. You don't chase paperwork.
What does a kitchen or bathroom remodel cost?
It depends on the size of the room, whether the layout moves, and what you pick for cabinets, countertops, tile, vanity and fixtures. We don't quote either room over the phone. The on-site estimate is free, takes about thirty minutes, and produces a written itemized price within 48 hours.
Can you convert a tub into a walk-in shower?
Yes, and it's one of the most common jobs we do in older Greater Boston homes. It usually means a new pan and drain location, a proper sloped mortar bed and membrane, and a decision about whether to keep a curb or go curbless — which depends on your joists. We look at that at the estimate.
Can you move the sink, or take out a wall in my kitchen?
Usually yes. Moving a sink means new drain and supply, and taking out a wall means checking whether it's carrying load and how the ceiling above is framed. We look at both at the estimate before anyone promises an open floor plan.
Do you supply the cabinets and countertops, or do I?
Either works. If we supply them, they're ordered on our timeline and we own the delivery date. If you supply them, we build the schedule around your delivery and we'll tell you what we need and when. Same goes for a bathroom vanity.
Do you do small bathrooms and powder rooms?
Yes. A 5×7 second-floor bath in a 1920s two-family is our bread and butter, and a powder room is a short job we're happy to schedule.
What about asbestos or lead paint?
We don't do asbestos abatement or de-leading — those need a licensed specialist and we'll refer you to one. If we find something behind the wall during demo, we stop, tell you, and don't disturb it.
Who is actually in my house?
Our own vetted, certified crew. Same faces from demo day to the final walk-through, and you have Alessandro's number the entire time.
Beyond the bathroom
We also do
Bathrooms are what we lead with. These trades run out of the same shop, on the same schedule, with a partner accountable for each one.
- 01
Carpentry & Painting
A paint job fails at the caulk line and the bare spot behind the radiator. A trim job fails at the scribe — the gap where the casing meets a wall that was never straight. Both failures are invisible until you're standing in the room, which is why we run both trades under the same eye.
- 02
Deck & Porch Construction and Repair
A deck doesn't fail at the railing or the decking boards — it fails at the two parts nobody sees again once the job is done: the footings and the ledger board. That's where we spend the engineering attention, not the baluster style.
- 03
Masonry Restoration & Repair
Mortar is supposed to fail before the brick does — it's the sacrificial part of the wall, by design. Our job is telling you when that's happening on schedule and when it's a sign something behind the wall, usually water, has already gone wrong.
- 04
Patio & Walkway Installation
A paver patio doesn't fail at the pavers. It fails at the base underneath — the compacted gravel and sand nobody ever thinks about again after the first week, until the field starts to dip and spread a few years later.
